AGM/OPEN MEETING 2020
Weston Favell Village Residents’ Association Annual General Meeting 2020
Dear Residents’ Association members,
I write to you on this the first day of October 2020, the month in which under normal circumstances we would expect to be holding the Annual General Meeting of the Weston Favell Village Residents’ Association.
The continuing constraints of Covid 19 and rapidly changing rules governing public assembly mean that we are not in a position to formally hold a meeting in the manner of past years or that envisaged by Section 8 of the Association’s Constitution adopted in 2019.
As a compromise and to ensure good order, reports from the Treasurer and Chairman will be circulated to all members in the coming period. It is further proposed that the Association committee continue as currently structured until matters return to something approximating normal, when the appointment of officers and conduct of business can be undertaken with a greater degree of certainty and a proper General Meeting can take place. As a reminder the current committee comprises:
Martin Brown – Chair
Mike Bordiss – Treasurer
Liz Gausden – Organiser Coffee Mornings, Brunches and Social Events
Kay Ingram – Organiser Noticeboard
Josephine Peach – Membership Secretary and Email/Website Administrator
Sue Richards – Minute Secretary and Link Person with friends of St. Peter’s
Sue Wray – Link Person with the Garden Society and the Allotment Association
Carol Askew, Pamela Bordiss and Rob Robertson
Despite this period of uncertainty and limited capacity the Association continues to make itself available as a conduit for communication and support to, and between, its members. The domain remains an important instrument for the provision of important information to the community and also for the circulation of public announcements from various local authorities and agencies.
In the meantime please look after yourselves. We all look forward to that time when we can once again meet as a community of friends and enjoy one another’s company without concern.
In the words of Dave Allen (Comedian) “May your gods go with you” and stay safe.
Martin Brown, Chair Weston Favell Village Residents’ Association

Christmas Comes Early for Macmillan
To all the amazing Residents of WFVRA,
Against all the odds………….
You did it!
You smashed it!
Yes together we beat all previous totals for our fundraising for Macmillan.
We raised the grand total of……£600.00!
A huge thank you to all those kind people out there who donated raffle prizes and to all those who kindly bought raffle tickets the unorthodox way by posting monies through my letterbox!
There just are not enough words to thank you all for your generosity.
The 30 raffle prizes have almost all been delivered, with a few more to go tomorrow.
Such an amazing achievement at such a difficult time.
My heartfelt thanks to you all.
I do hope we will be able to meet up again before too long.
Until that time, please stay safe and well.
Liz Gausden

IF YOU NEED SOME HELP LET US KNOW
OR CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE SOME FREE TIME AND WANT TO HELP PEOPLE IN YOUR AREA.
The world has turned into an uncertain and worrying place of late and we hate the thought of anyone being alone and isolated in these self-isolating times. So we’d like to set up a buddy system for anyone who feels that they need help or support, and we can try and connect them with someone who lives close by who can help with delivering groceries or collecting medication.
If you are happy to help someone in your area over the next few weeks, or if you are in need of some support, then please reply to this message and we will try to connect you.
This message will only reach email Members. There are many elderly and vulnerable residents who do not operate a computer. If you know of any please let us know and provide contact details.
Also if you are aware of people on their own please provide a telephone number and we will do our best to assist.
We hope everyone is safe and well.

Vicky Ivan gave a very thought provoking talk on 5G.
It was good to see Councillor Mary Markham, along with her colleagues Stephen Legg and Andy Kilbride.
PCSO Dan Freeman and PCSO Steve Whiting were also in attendance for a short while before they were called out to an emergency.
Thank you to the Members who donated raffle items.
As ever our appreciation goes to Julie for providing refreshments.
COFFEE MORNING 3RD FEBRUARY 2020
Around 50 Members attended our Coffee Morning on Monday 3rd February at The Bold Dragoon, and what a busy and lively morning it was.
Una McIntosh reported on the forthcoming event on 8th May at the Bold Dragoon celebrating the 75th anniversary of VE Day. This is going to be a fun packed afternoon with several activities. More details will be available to sight imminently on our Noticeboard next to the Church Hall in the High Street.
Our Speaker was the Reverend Matthew Smith who is the new Curate at St. Peter’s Church. Matthew is here for 3 years whilst he trains to become a Vicar, and he gave a very interesting talk on his duties and said how much he looked forward to serving the Community.
Chairman of Northamptonshire, Stephen Legg, introduced Councillor Andy Kilbride who currently represents Billing Ward and is one of the Candidates for the new extended area which incorporates Riverside (our ward).
PCSOs Dan Freeman and Steve Whiting were also in attendance.
Liz Gausden and Martin Brown outlined the many forthcoming events within the village.
COFFEE MORNING 6TH JANUARY 2020
Around 50 Members attended our first Coffee Morning of the New Year at the Bold Dragoon.
Our PCSO Dan Freeman, along with his colleague Craig, attended for the first time to introduce themselves and answered questions from residents.
Liz Gausden outlined forthcoming events.
Speaker was Hilary Stacey from the “Wild about Hedgehogs” Group. She gave a very interesting and informative talk on Hogs and how to look after them. There were several “Hedgehog” related items for sale to support their work. £42 was raised from the sales.
As ever Julie looked after us all with refreshments (including biscuits and mince pies).
A good time was had by all.
COFFEE MORNING 2ND DECEMBER 2019
Over 40 Members attended our final Coffee Morning of the year on 2nd December.
After several announcements Liz Gausden handed out Song Sheets and we all joyfully sang Christmas Carols, as well as munching on mince pies provided by Julie, who also kept everyone lubricated.
The Raffle, organised by Carol Askew in her own inimitable style, was a huge success, raising £105 for WFVRA funds.
Afterwards Julie and her Staff served a delicious Christmas dinner for all those who had booked. Liz thanked them for their hard work and we all gave a huge round of applause. Sincere thanks must also go to Mary Markham for providing, yet again, such scrumptious desserts.
