COFFEE MORNING 4TH JUNE 2018

The Coffee Morning on 4th June was well attended, as ever. After Liz had made several announcements Members were left to enjoy their coffee and have a chat with each other.

Lunch followed for those who had booked, and what an enjoyable meal it was. Peter & Julie are to be congratulated for providing such wonderful food.

Sincere thanks must also go to Mary Markham who, once again, donated the delicious dessert.

Another triumphant morning for organiser Liz Gausden.

Planters

PLANTING AROUND THE VILLAGE

The Village Residents’ Association plan to put planters on the Green areas beside the Weston Favell Village signs as you enter Church Way from Bewick Road. They will be quite large and made of redwood sleepers, so should look very attractive and welcoming to the village.

Please contact us if you have any comments to make or wish for further
information about these. They will be well away from the road and won’t
obscure the view as you leave Church Way.

We naturally plan to plant them up, with perennial plants and shrubs and would
like to know if anyone, particularly those living close by, would be prepared to help with any watering necessary during the summer months, particularly in the first year.

We have a grant for the two Church Way planters, but would appreciate contributions towards the plants, and towards a third redwood planter near the top shop, which we hope to put in place towards the end of the year.

A-Z OF SONGS OF CRAZE

Saturday 19th May 2018. An evening to remember, and certainly one to go down in the history of WFVRA.

130 people attended St. Peter’s Church. Soloists, Groups, and two little “starlets” performed their acts.

Everyone joined in the congregational hymns/songs, and children waved their flags with great enthusiasm. During the interval cake and prosecco were served, and residents took the opportunity to chat with each other.

Songs of Craze was the inspiration of our one and only Liz Gausden, who, in her own inimitable style (and with a driving force second to none), organised an unforgettable event – a success beyond her wildest dreams.

Special thanks must go to David Kirby for allowing us to use the Church.
This was the ideal location and no other venue would have been as successful.

Thanks must go to:

All the “Stars” who gave outstanding performances.

Andy Gausden & Barny Askew for slicing the cakes.
Eric Cave for playing the Organ.
Jan & Graham Stoppani for distribution of prosecco.
Marna & Lootie Johansen-Bibby for providing the gluten free cake.
Matt Gausden for providing the Song Sheets.
Rita Power for making the “Wedding” cake
Stephen Legg for providing the plates, forks, tumblers and serviettes.
Josephine, Anne & Carol for their support in the organisation of the event.

Last but not least thanks must go to everyone who attended and made this event so special for us all. An occasion like this highlights the activities of WFVRA and its endeavours to ensure our Village continues to be such a lively, friendly, sociable and happy place.

An outstanding £505 was raised (which was split equally between Christian Aid and WFVRA).

COFFEE MORNING 7TH MAY 2018

Over 40 members attended the Coffee Morning at The Bold Dragoon on 7th May.
It was a bright sunny morning and we all sat on the patio, basking in the sunshine
and enjoying refreshments provided by Peter & Julie, to whom we offer our
sincere thanks as always.

Sue Ward gave a brief but very interesting talk on Bosnia, and brought a display board with photos and news reports for all to see.

Another enjoyable Bank Holiday Monday.

COFFEE MORNING 2ND APRIL 2018

The Coffee Morning on 2nd April was another outstanding success, well
supported on a wet Easter Bank Holiday Monday.

As ever sincere thanks go to Peter & Julie for providing delicious refreshments,
and for the lovely touch of little Easter Eggs.

Liz Gausden once again, in her own inimitable style, organised a thoroughly enjoyable event by arranging a quiz on Weston Favell and providing Easter Eggs for the Winner and Runner Up.

The number of attendees on this and every monthly Coffee Morning and WFVRA Social Event is testament to the hard work and dedication Liz puts into all these activities –
Priceless.

COFFEE MORNING 5TH MARCH 2018

The Coffee Morning on 5th March was as popular as ever with just over 50 Members in attendance.  Sincere thanks, of course, go to Peter & Julie for providing delicious refreshments.

The Auction was a huge success. Jan Stoppani and Jan Glasspool made successful bids and are now the proud owners of the two beautiful Hats which were donated by one of our Members.

Rachel Boyles from Flamingo Paperie gave the talk and brought along (and sold) several of her exquisitely designed cards.

Another excellent and enjoyable event organised by our own Liz Gausden.

COFFEE MORNING 5TH FEBRUARY 2018

Our first Coffee Morning of the year at The Bold Dragoon was, as ever, a huge success. Over 50 Members attended, enjoying coffee and biscuits provided by Peter & Julie who looked after us in their own inimitable style.

Speaker, Ken Howlett, gave a very interesting talk on his trek from Coast to Coast, and his jokes raised much laughter within the Group.

COFFEE MORNING 4TH DECEMBER 2017

The Coffee Morning on 4th December was, without doubt, an excellent start to Christmas Celebrations and exceeded all expectations. Over 60 Members attended, and 48 joined for the Lunch.

A staggering £262 was raised from the raffle, which went towards WFVRA funds. 10% of this was donated to the Emmanuel Foodbank.  Sincere thanks to everyone who donated prizes and, of course, to Members who bought tickets and supported our joyous occasion.

Praise must go to Mrs Christmas (aka Liz Gausden) who conducted the carols and lessons in her own inimitable style, and to her little Elves, Carol & Josephine who, with the assistance of Anne, Jan and Liz Cox, worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the raffle.

However greatest accolades must go to (a) Peter & Julie & their Team for a wonderful meal (as well as their continued support for our social activities), and (b) Mary Markham for her very kind donation of such a delicious dessert.
