Open Gardens Sunday 11th July 2021
Well what a bumper attendance for Open Gardens this year, despite there being no refreshments, sadly missed by us all this year!
We were delighted to see so many of you in our gardens this year helping to make Gardens Unlocked Open Day such a success.
We have raised £1400, for Northamptonshire Carers, a goodly amount considering there were no teas or tombola this year.
They will be able to enter this amount into a Big Pledge offer from the Big Give campaign, which will allow them to quadruple it we hope!
So thank you to all of you who were able to join us, I hope you enjoyed not just the gardens but walking round the village and meeting up and chatting with so many people after all these months spent apart.
Thank you from Sue and the team

Gardeners:
We are so pleased to be able to be involved and help to raise £1400!! We really enjoyed seeing lots of people and neighbours and had a lovely day.
It was really nice to meet other participants. Lovely gardens as usual,
yours is certainly our son’s favourite!!! Special thank you for letting him feed the fish.
What a lovely day, the weather and lovely gardens.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon, it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the gardens of Weston Favell.
It was a pleasure to help with the occasion.
A really successful day and It was so nice to see people enjoying walking around the village, the weather was just right too.
Just wanted to say what an absolutely lovely afternoon we had, both looking round everyone’s gardens and getting together afterwards.
What a fantastic attendance today and weren’t we lucky with the weather?
Thank you so much for this afternoon’s open gardens tour. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and meeting the other gardeners too.
Lovely group of people and amazing gardens.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
Church Stewards:
I was amazed how many were congregating in the village when we arrived.
We had a steady stream of visitors during the hour I was there, and when the organ was played very quietly some folks sat and listened for a little while.
There was a steady flow of people through the church. Everyone enjoyed the music.
Once again there was a lovely atmosphere around the village.
Gosh what a good sum was raised.
These are comments made on the Ridgeway Support group (three of the gardens were in Ridgeway)
Ridgeway Support Group:
Had a wonderful afternoon enjoying a great variety of beautiful gardens. Many thanks to all those who opened their gardens to share with us all.
It’s been such a pleasure to enjoy so many different gardens, all lovely in their own ways. Thank you to all who put in so much hard work making their gardens so beautiful and for being willing to share them.
We really enjoyed meeting so many nice people. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Huge credit to those organising it .
We really enjoyed our day! The children loved the I Spy, it was a lovely activity! The baby hedgehogs were a huge hit too! Thank you everyone for such a big effort!
I don’t think I have ever seen so many succulents and cacti in one place in my entire life! Fascinating.
The money raised, just over £1400, will be given to Northamptonshire Carers and Young Carers, a fantastic charity providing help and support to the many, many carers in Northants. They have been able to use it as a pledge in the Big Give Pledge, which could see money raised this weekend quadrupled.

What a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon it was. It took me 3 hours to go round. All the gardens were beautiful, as were the flowers in the church, Graspin Lane and the cemetery. I had a delightful guided tour of the Allotments – first time I have been all the way round. I was very impressed. Such a pleasure to sit in the church and listen to the music.
What a joy to see people milling around the village – just like old times.
Well done to you and your team for making the afternoon such a pleasant experience and one to cherish after the year from hell.
There will be an article and photos about the Open Day in Cornerstone, the Parish Magazine.
