Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Update

The Celebrations in our Village on Saturday 4th June were an outstanding success. Hundreds of residents turned up to join us on this wonderful occasion.

A few photos below.

A day to remember for our lovely village.

The proceeds from the Grand Raffle alone raised nearly £2,300.00. This sum is sufficient to complete the existing Defibrillator funds at the Bold Dragoon and the Trumpet. The next stage will be to transfer agreed amounts in a responsible and transparent manner to allow for the purchase and installation of the equipment at the two sites. This may not be possible immediately or simultaneously due to current circumstances within both organisations and the different stages of the respective funds.

Observers will be aware that the Bold Dragoon is in the midst of changing management. Once this has been legally established the Jubilee steering group will be able to arrange proper release of monies to support the purchase of its Defibrillator.

The organisational structure of the Trumpet differs and we will be dealing directly with the brewery, Greene King, in that regard. New area management is currently being appointed and once installed representatives of the Jubilee steering group will discuss with them any appropriate future allocation of funds from the Jubilee account. We will keep you posted.

The Celebration was such an unexpected success that the funds raised from the raffle and a further approx. £2,500.00 on the day will significantly exceed the cost of supporting two defibrillators. When the amounts needed at The Bold and The Trumpet are clear, the steering group will be able to consider the best way to use the remaining funds.

A simple “thank you”, seems somewhat inadequate in these circumstances. But in the absence of anything better on our part, please accept the heartfelt thanks of the Jubilee event organisation team and the many contributors and volunteers for all your support and smiles. Your contribution made for a truly “Community Event”.
