MACMILLAN FUND RAISING SEPT 2020

28th Sept 2020
Christmas Comes Early for Macmillan

To all the amazing Residents of WFVRA,

Against all the odds………….
You did it!
You smashed it!
Yes together we beat all previous totals for our fundraising for Macmillan.

We raised the grand total of……£600.00!

A huge thank you to all those kind people out there who donated raffle prizes and to all those who kindly bought raffle tickets the unorthodox way by posting monies through my letterbox!

There just are not enough words to thank you all for your generosity.
The 30 raffle prizes have almost all been delivered, with a few more to go tomorrow.

Such an amazing achievement at such a difficult time.

My heartfelt thanks to you all.
I do hope we will be able to meet up again before too long.
Until that time, please stay safe and well.

Liz Gausden

MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA 14TH SEPT 2019

The Musical Extravaganza “Around the World in 120 minutes” held on Saturday 14th September was an overwhelming success which will be remembered for many years to come.  We are surrounded by so many talented people.

Over 100 people attended St. Peter’s Church to hear Soloists, Duets, Groups, Choirs and Musicians.

Special thanks must go to Liz Gausden (who, in her own inimitable style, organised the whole event) and of course to everyone who joined us for this highly entertaining evening.

The amazing sum of £442.93 was raised for the charity EVE. Huge thanks to everyone for their generous donations.

There was a definite “buzz” around the village this morning as so many residents were praising the artists for providing such wonderful performances.

OPEN GARDENS 2019

The Open Gardens on 30th June was an overwhelming success. £2000 was raised for the Hope Centre, Northampton.

It was a wonderful sight to see so many people enjoying themselves visiting all the Gardens on show, which were a sight to behold. We were lucky to have a fine dry day without the intense heat of the previous day.

The Cakes in the Church Hall proved to be extremely popular, as did the Hedgehog Stand.

Sincere thanks must go to Sue Wray and her Team for all the hard work that went into making this year’s event such a success.

The Tombola was also very popular, with a vast number of prizes thanks to the generosity of so many people.

A-Z OF SONGS OF CRAZE

Saturday 19th May 2018. An evening to remember, and certainly one to go down in the history of WFVRA.

130 people attended St. Peter’s Church. Soloists, Groups, and two little “starlets” performed their acts.

Everyone joined in the congregational hymns/songs, and children waved their flags with great enthusiasm. During the interval cake and prosecco were served, and residents took the opportunity to chat with each other.

Songs of Craze was the inspiration of our one and only Liz Gausden, who, in her own inimitable style (and with a driving force second to none), organised an unforgettable event – a success beyond her wildest dreams.

Special thanks must go to David Kirby for allowing us to use the Church.
This was the ideal location and no other venue would have been as successful.

Thanks must go to:

All the “Stars” who gave outstanding performances.

Andy Gausden & Barny Askew for slicing the cakes.
Eric Cave for playing the Organ.
Jan & Graham Stoppani for distribution of prosecco.
Marna & Lootie Johansen-Bibby for providing the gluten free cake.
Matt Gausden for providing the Song Sheets.
Rita Power for making the “Wedding” cake
Stephen Legg for providing the plates, forks, tumblers and serviettes.
Josephine, Anne & Carol for their support in the organisation of the event.

Last but not least thanks must go to everyone who attended and made this event so special for us all. An occasion like this highlights the activities of WFVRA and its endeavours to ensure our Village continues to be such a lively, friendly, sociable and happy place.

An outstanding £505 was raised (which was split equally between Christian Aid and WFVRA).

Tea Party at the Old Rectory

The Tea Party held at the Old Rectory on Sunday 7th August was a huge success and well supported.

This was in aid of the Friends of Northampton General Hospital.

A sunny afternoon with tasty sandwiches and cakes galore, followed by a walk around the grounds of this lovely building.
